Hello All, I have returned!
So last week was "Innovative Learning Week" at Edinburgh University. Basically that means that all classes are canceled for the week and every department sponsors trips and lectures and such for people to pick and choose from. In practice, this means that most people use the week as a break, which I was I mostly did. A lot of people went travelling to other countries, but for various reasons I decided to stay put in Edinburgh.
I spent most of the week doing a bit of exploring in Edinburgh. I finally found a good milkshake shop about 40 minutes walk from my flat. A bit of a hike, but totally worth it!
I did, however, sign up for a trip to Hadrian's Wall which took place this past Saturday, and of which I have some photos to share!
This view of the wall gives an excellent example of why the Romans chose to build it where they did!
An up close view of the wall. It was very weird (and awesome!) to think that I was touching something that had been built by Roman Soldiers 2000 years ago.
A picture of me with the wall. I apologize for the facial expression, the wind was blowing directly into my face!
We also stopped at a couple of Roman Military Forts which were built along the wall
We even went to a museum which had many of the artifacts they had uncovered over the course of excavating the wall!
Assorted Images of the Wall
Until next time!
